Our read, before we play it

The only adult rhythm game in the catalogue, and a reminder that RockHardVR can design actual gameplay, not just encounters.

Worth it if

  • You like rhythm games and want an adult twist on one
  • You want to choose your effort: seated laser mode or a two-handed workout
  • You play on a Quest with hand tracking

Skip it if

  • You expect a song list and difficulty levels: the page publishes neither
  • You want AR: it is not listed
  • You are on a Quest 3 and want it confirmed: the headset list predates it

A game with a score

Almost everything RockHardVR makes is an encounter. VR Ero-Beat is a game in the ordinary sense: notes come at you, you hit them in time, and you can be good or bad at it. The page compares it to osu! and Beat Saber, and the setting gives it a frame: a library after closing time, where Maya takes over the PA system.

Its three modes are what make it worth a look. Laser Mode is built for relaxed, seated play. Hand Tracking Mode drops the controllers. Two-Hand Mode is the challenging one. Being able to pick between a lazy evening and something that makes you move is rare in this catalogue, and it gives the game a reason to be replayed that a scene does not have.

What the page does not tell you

For a rhythm game, the listing is thin on the things rhythm players care about. There is no track list, no word on difficulty levels and no mention of AR. The headset list stops at the original Quest and Quest 2, plus the Oculus Go; Quest 3 owners can reasonably expect it to work, since newer RockHardVR titles run there, but this page does not say so.

The one concrete bug report is old: Two-Hand Mode once showed a mouse cursor instead of hands, and a later comment said an update had fixed it.

Our read

If you play rhythm games anyway, this is the most game-like thing on Premium's browser shelf and a pleasant change of pace from the encounters around it. Go in expecting a light, short experience rather than a full rhythm game with a library of songs. Our RockHardVR guide lists what to try after it.

What reviewers and players report

  • Two-Hand Mode showed only a mouse cursor instead of hands; a later comment said an update had fixed it.
