Quick answers
- How many dancers can Idol Playroom show at once?
- Up to three, in party mode.
- Can I see the dancers in my own room?
- Yes. AR mode brings them into your living room on supported Quest headsets.
- Idol Playroom won't start after the controller screen on Quest 3. What helps?
- The studio's advice for that period was to turn hand tracking off in the Quest system menu, which was causing input conflicts.
- Is Idol Playroom better than Grooving with Aida?
- The studio itself says so: it called Grooving with Aida deprecated and recommended Idol Playroom.
Our read, before we play it
The studio's own pick over its older dance game, with the best ambient use of AR in the catalogue, and builds on VRPorn that trail the studio's.
Worth it if
- You want something to put on rather than something to play
- You have a Quest 2, 3 or Pro and like the idea of dancers in your actual room
- You enjoy styling characters: colours, body sliders and costumes
Skip it if
- You want interaction beyond watching and customising
- Hand tracking is a must and you own a Pico 4
- You need the very latest fixes: the studio says its own site gets builds first

A sequel to a place, not a character
Idol Playroom opens on a return visit. The establishment you saw before has been upgraded, a purple-haired secretary leads you to a simulation room, and the new feature is a party: up to three dancers at once, to music you can mark as favourites and sort. It is the most passive of RockHardVR's browser games and seems designed to be. You set the scene, press play and let it run.
That puts it closer to Dream Playroom than to the studio's one-character encounters, but where Dream Playroom is about posing, Idol Playroom is about atmosphere. Customisation covers hair, skin, eye and clothing colours, body sliders and physics, and a costume menu.
AR is the point
On a Quest 2, 3 or Pro, AR mode moves the party into your living room. Most of RockHardVR's games list passthrough as an extra; here it changes what the game is for. A dancer in a void is a demo. A dancer next to your sofa is a scene. The studio describes a standalone Meta headset as highly recommended, and the Pico 4 runs it without hand tracking.
The Quest 3 question
In spring 2026 a Quest 3 owner reported that it would not load, and VRPorn.com's moderator sent it to the developers. Earlier, another player got stuck on the controller screen. RockHardVR's answer then was specific: turn off hand tracking in the system menu, because headsets switching between hands and controllers was the main cause of trouble, and check the studio's own site for newer builds, since patches reach VRPorn.com slowly. If the game misbehaves on a Quest 3, those two steps come before anything else; the general checklist is in our RockHardVR fix.
Our read
This is the dance game the studio wants you to play, and it is right to. If you liked the idea of Grooving with Aida but not its age, start here, ideally on a Quest with AR switched on. How it fits with the studio's other titles is covered in our RockHardVR guide.
What reviewers and players report
Called that game old and deprecated and pointed players to Idol Playroom instead.
The game would not load on a Quest 3; the moderator passed it to the developers to investigate.
— A Quest 3 owner and VRPorn.com's moderator, around May 2026
Hand tracking switching on was 'the major problem' at the time; turning it off in the system menu helped, and patching on VRPorn.com was slow, so newer builds appeared on the studio's site first.
Known problems and how to get past them
- Browser VR games on Quest 3 and 3S: when VR mode won't start, the menu won't open, or the controllers go haywireThe Quest 3 arrived after most of VRPorn.com's browser games were written, and it shows. Owners of the 3 and the cheaper 3S report three distinct failures, each at a different moment, and the studio behind most of these games has explained all three in its own replies.
- RockHardVR's twenty browser games: which to play first, how the hand controls work, and comics versus scenesRockHardVR is the studio most Premium members meet first without noticing the name. Twenty of the browser titles in VRPorn.com's games section are its work, they all look alike in the listing, and they are not alike at all. Some you play with your hands, some you watch like a comic, a few you build yourself.
