Updating Deepthroat Simulator: Quest Edition without auto-update, and without losing your custom characters
Deepthroat Simulator: Quest Edition is one of the few adult games that runs on a Quest by itself, and it pays for that with chores. It is sideloaded, so nothing updates it for you, and the Premium copy has fallen well behind the developer's own.

The short answer
The Quest Edition has no auto-update; Squircle Games says each new version means downloading and installing the game again. VRPorn.com Premium moved from 1.623 (March 2025) to 1.66 at the end of October 2026; the newest release notes on the developer's itch.io page are for 1.65, from 8 October 2026. To update, back up the VRM folder that holds your custom characters, then install the new APK over the old one with SideQuest. Android keeps the app's data only when the new file is signed like the installed one; if the install is refused, you have to uninstall, which deletes that folder.
Update without losing your characters
- Check which version you have. Since late October 2026 VRPorn.com shows the Premium build as 1.66; before that it was 1.623. The developer's itch.io page has release notes up to 1.65. Only update if the newer file comes from the same place as the copy you installed.
- Back up your VRM characters. With the headset connected, open SideQuest's file browser and copy the folder Android/data/com.SquircleGames.DeepthroatSimulator/files/VRM to your computer. Android deletes this folder if the app is ever uninstalled.
- Install the new APK over the old one. Use SideQuest's install-APK button with the new file, without uninstalling first. If Android accepts it as an update, your data and the VRM folder stay where they are.
- If the install is refused, reinstall cleanly. A refusal usually means the new file is signed differently. Uninstall the game, install the new APK, start it once so it creates its folders, then copy your VRM files back into the VRM folder.
- Find it under Unknown Sources. Sideloaded games appear in the Library's Unknown Sources tab, not the main grid. Check the version shown in the game before deleting your backup.
Why nothing updates it for you
A game from the Meta store updates itself overnight. A sideloaded APK has no store behind it, so it stays at the version you installed until you replace it. Squircle Games said as much on the game's VRPorn.com page: there is no auto-update system, and each new version has to be downloaded again.
Update, 30 October 2026: the Premium listing now reads 1.66, and the developer's change list for it includes a fix for Quest 3 passthrough (our news piece on 1.66). The paragraphs below describe the gap as it stood until 29 October; the backup steps still apply to every update.
That would be a small chore if the Premium copy kept pace. It has not. Premium is still on 1.623. The developer's itch.io page dates that release to 15 March 2025 and has since published 1.63 in June 2025, 1.64 in August 2025 and 1.65 on 8 October 2026. A Premium member installing today gets a build more than a year and a half old.
Four releases Premium has missed
From the release notes we could read, the versions after 1.623 are more than cosmetic. Version 1.63 added interactions, fixed scenes that started with characters wrongly undressed and added Chinese. The developer posted the 1.64 notes in a comment on VRPorn.com: fixed pose positioning, a switch to disable world movement, a detachable VR interface and UI scaling. The 1.65 notes, which we could read on 24 October, are short: a settings panel that would not close is fixed, and character selection loads models from a source the developer calls SecretWaifu (our news piece has the details).
One fix matters more than the rest for Quest 3 owners. Around March 2026 the developer acknowledged that passthrough was missing on the Quest 3 and promised a version fixing it very soon. That promise came after the last Premium build, so the Premium copy does not have it. Neither the 1.64 nor the 1.65 changelog mentions passthrough, so there is no sign yet that the fix shipped.
Why VRPorn.com is behind
The comments tell an awkward story. Last year the developer wrote that it had not been able to reach anyone at VRPorn.com and wanted the newest version released. VRPorn.com's staff account answered that the team knew about the update and was waiting for migration issues on its side to be resolved before launching it. Nothing on the page since shows that happening.
Updating without losing your characters
The part of this game people invest in is the custom characters: VRoid .VRM models you copy onto the headset. They live in the app's own folder, which the developer gives as Android/data/com.SquircleGames.DeepthroatSimulator/files/VRM. That location is the risk.
Two Android rules decide what happens when you update. The Android documentation on app signing says the system installs an update only when the new version is signed with the same certificate as the installed one. And the documentation on app-specific storage says those files are removed when the app is uninstalled. The Quest runs Android apps, installed the same way Meta's developer documentation describes, so both rules apply here. That last step is our reasoning rather than a statement from Meta or the developer.
Put together: installing a new APK over the old one keeps your characters, provided Android accepts it as an update. If it refuses, uninstalling is the way through, and uninstalling takes the VRM folder with it. Hence the backup in the steps above.
The open question is whether the VRPorn.com build and the itch.io build are signed alike. Neither the developer nor VRPorn.com says. If you switch sources, from the Premium 1.623 to a 1.65 bought on itch.io, expect the possibility of a refused install and back up first.
Other reports on the page
Two Quest 3 owners wrote that the game did not work, one describing an APK that installed and then showed nothing when opened. The developer replied that it should work and asked them to join its Discord, and a later commenter reported the invite as invalid. A Quest 2 owner found it too laggy this summer. A commenter on the developer's 1.63 page said SideQuest refused the install over a virus warning. That is a single, unverified report, but it is another reason to take the file only from the developer's or VRPorn.com's own page.
A good game, badly delivered
The game deserves better distribution than it has. A developer that answers its players and keeps shipping updates is paired with a Premium listing stuck on a March 2025 build and a public exchange about not being able to reach the site. VRPorn.com should either publish 1.65 or mark 1.623 on the page as an old build that lacks the passthrough fix. Squircle Games, for its part, could say publicly whether its two builds share a signature, so people know before they lose their characters.
Until then, Premium gets you a working, older Quest Edition at no extra cost. If you mainly want current features, the itch.io version is the only route to 1.65 that we can document; do not count on it for the passthrough fix yet. Your own VRoid models are free to add; the developer's extra characters are a different matter, a Patreon benefit rather than part of Premium, as our page on the PC version explains. First time sideloading anything? Meta's developer-mode requirements are set out step by step in our EdenXverse fix.
What changed (30 Oct 2026): Premium listing moved to 1.66; quick answer, first step and FAQ updated, update note added above the version history.
What changed (24 Oct 2026): added the 1.65 changelog, which we could not read before, and corrected the passthrough outlook: neither 1.64 nor 1.65 lists the fix.
Quick answers
- Does Deepthroat Simulator Quest Edition update automatically?
- No. The developer wrote on VRPorn.com that there is no auto-update system and that you need to download the game again for each new version.
- What is the latest version of Deepthroat Simulator Quest Edition?
- VRPorn.com Premium lists 1.66 since late October 2026. The newest release notes on the developer's itch.io page are for 1.65, from 8 October 2026.
- Will updating delete my custom VRM characters?
- Not if the new APK installs as an update over the old one. Uninstalling does delete them, because Android removes an app's own storage folder on uninstall. Back the folder up first.
- Why is passthrough missing on my Quest 3?
- The developer acknowledged the problem around March 2026 and said a new version fixing it was coming very soon. The Premium build predates that promise, and neither the 1.64 nor the 1.65 changelog mentions passthrough.
- Why doesn't VRPorn.com have the newest version?
- Last year the developer said it could not reach VRPorn.com's staff to get the newest build published. Staff replied that the update was waiting on migration issues on their side.
- Where do I put VRM files on Quest?
- In Android/data/com.SquircleGames.DeepthroatSimulator/files/VRM, using SideQuest's file browser. The developer says to create the VRM folder if it is missing.
