The developer's own build is several updates ahead of the one Premium offers.
Why it exists
Virt-A-Mate is famous for what it lets you build and infamous for how much building it asks of you. vamX is the answer from a separate studio: a large content pack and a game layer on top, so you pick a partner, a place and a position from menus instead of assembling them. The developer counts hundreds of partners, clothing sets and positions, more than fifty environments and a good amount of voice acting.
It is still Virt-A-Mate underneath, so the requirements do not shrink. The developer's minimum is a GTX 1060 with 16 GB of RAM and 30 GB free; the recommended machine has an RTX 2070, 32 GB and 80 GB of space. The second set is the one to trust if you plan to use community content.
The toy support is the real selling point
Few adult VR games support more hardware. The itch.io listing names Lovense toys, The Handy, OSR strokers from the SR1 to the SR6, Lovense Solace Pro and Fleshlight tracking, and the July 2025 devlog was dedicated to Lovense compatibility. If you already own one of these, vamX is the most direct way to have it follow what happens in the headset.
The version gap
Here is the catch for Premium members. The VRPorn.com page offers vamX 1.21. The developer's own bundle on itch.io received the 1.48 to 1.52 update in January 2026. We cannot yet say which features fall in that gap, but it is wide enough that anything you see in recent vamX videos may not be in the Premium build. The developer's own schedule for the itch.io bundle is one large free update about twice a year (July 2025, then January 2026), with a one-off $10 payment if you want a build early; buyers in the forum still ask regularly when the next one is due.
The AI chat that appears in vamX marketing is not part of either version: it is sold separately at $19 a month.
Our read
If you came to Virt-A-Mate for the physics and left because of the menus, vamX is worth a second look, and on Premium it costs nothing extra. Treat the Premium build as a way to find out whether the format suits you; if it does and you want current features or the newest toy support, the itch.io bundle is where the updates land first.
What reviewers and players report
The praise is about depth and physics, the complaints about the interface: several reviewers call it confusing at first, and one notes janky scene changes on a laptop below the recommended specs.
A recurring question over recent months is whether buyers keep receiving updates.
